It turns out marijuana in Saskatchewan and across the West is cheaper than in the east.
The prospect of legalized recreational use has pushed the topic of cannabis up the agenda and, for many people who have never been users, this is a learning opportunity because it’s all new stuff.
But it has also captured the attention of the business community. Literally dozens of companies were formed with the hope of becoming suppliers of the product. And while many have fallen by the wayside, a few major players have already been created. We even saw a billion dollar takeover in this space a few weeks ago.
But one thing that hasn’t been given much attention is….what is the price of marijuana? Since there’s no retail market to use as a barometer yet StatsCan asked Canadians who use it to voluntarily answer this question: how much are you paying?
The national average price is $7.43 a gram. Saskatchewan is second lowest at $7.11 behind BC which comes in at $6.94.
