This province continues to be the most attractive place in Canada to engage in a mining operation. That comes from a global survey of executives who were asked to rank more than 80 jurisdictions.
Canada took four of the top 10 rankings among jurisdictions for their attractiveness as a place to invest in mining. Of those, Saskatchewan ranked highest….making us #1 in Canada and #3 in the world. Quebec was right behind us in fourth spot while the Yukon and NorthWest Territories claimed 9th and 10 positions.
The most notable change this year was Ontario….it fell from #7 last year to 20th place this year.
Saskatchewan held second spot a year ago and now has been pushed back one slot with Nevada and Western Australia moving up the ranking. Nevada is now #1.
Yet, we are still a long ways ahead of many parts of Canada on this measure. After Newfoundland’s #11 rating Manitoba claimed 12th spot, we fell back more quickly with BC in 18th followed by New Brunswick, Alberta in 51st place, and Nova Scotia.
